H. Pylori Infections

H. Pylori Infections

H. pylori is a chronic bacterial infection that causes gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and in some rare cases gastric cancer and lymphoma. It is treated with antibiotics. Diagnosis and testing for eradication can be achieved with a few different modalities, one of which is urea breath testing. Urea breath test is an in-office diagnostic test in which by blowing your breath into an analyzer, detection of H. pylori byproducts can be tested for. If positive, antibiotics are usually prescribed.
