PEG TUBE PLACEMENT

PEG TUBE PLACEMENT

What is a PEG?

A percutaneous gastrostomy tube is a tube placed through the skin and abdominal wall and into your stomach. It is a tube placed in certain situations, where a patient cannot eat/swallow and keep up with their nutrition. This is seen in some neurological disorders. This tube is placed in coordination with an upper endoscopy. A short hospital stay can sometimes be required. Tube management is usually feasible and most families can help care for the tube with ease.
